Premium Accounting Manager

San Antonio, TX

Position Summary:

We currently offer an opportunity in our San Antonio, TX office for the role of Premium Accounting Manager.

Under general supervision of the Director of Premium Accounting, the Premium Accounting Manager will assist with overseeing the daily operations and performance of the Premium Accounting Department.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provides guidance to a team of 12-15 frontline team members and manages the day-to-day operational activities for the team.
  • Support the Director of Premium Accounting in departmental processes.
  • Acts as a liaison between operational and functional areas, customer service, account executives, Senior Leadership, and the internal support teams to identify and address barriers cross-functionally.
  • Utilizes analytical thinking skills, leadership ability and business knowledge to help coordinate and lead a department of associates.
  • Leads large scale implementation of projects and processes to help solve complex organizational problems.
  • Effectively plans staff responsibilities and manage activities, utilizing staff resources to meet departmental goals in accordance with established business plans and budgets.
  • Project management of accounting items including month-end carrier reporting and compliance with company and HIPAA confidentiality regulations.
  • Assists in the daily management of the Premium Accounting Department.
  • Ensures internal and external deliverables meet pre-determined delivery dates. Manage expectations of recipients if there are unforeseen delays.
  • Schedules and directs work; addresses complaints and resolves problems; monitors monthly production.
  • Provides ongoing coaching and feedback to enhance the contributions, competencies, and performance of associates.
  • Manages team daily attendance and overtime; coordinates time off requests and updates time sheets.
  • Processes and resolves escalated service issues to ensure superior service to our customers.
  • Continually work to improve policy and procedures, efficiency, and customer service for internal and external clients.
  • Creates and maintains departmental training objectives for ongoing education and success.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum five (5) years management experience, preferably in accounting field.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance or related field.
  • Ability to manage effectively in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment.
  • Experience with managing quality metrics and monitor feedback.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to operate in collaborative environment.
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office® programs e.g. Word®, PowerPoint®, and Excel®.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in accounting or related field.
  • Experience in Sage INTACCT®.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel® skills (Macros, Power Query, Embedded formulas, etc.)
  • More than 5 years management experience.
  • More than 5 years accounting experience.
  • Project management experience.
